| On Saturday, October 17, Delran Fire Company No. 1 participated in a series of events alongside Delran Fire Company No. 2 (Station 2) to help promote fire prevention within the community. Visitors to the station were treated to hot dogs, generously donated by Dietz and Watson and Shop Rite. There was also an abundance of snow cones supplied by Joey's Lawn Care and plenty of popcorn for everyone to enjoy. The event featured open access to the fire apparatus and the station, allowing guests to explore and learn more about fire safety equipment. Numerous giveaways were available for attendees, including stickers, color-changing cups, pens, coloring books, and even slime, making the occasion memorable for children and families. The highly anticipated "Rubber Duck Race" was planned to begin at noon but was briefly delayed as firefighters returned from responding to a fire call. While crews worked to prepare their equipment for the next emergency, visitors continued to enjoy the refreshments and activities on site. When the race began, children randomly selected rubber ducks, each marked with a unique number. The ducks were placed at the starting line, and the countdown began. As water from a fire hose sent the ducks down the course, excitement built among participants and spectators. Winners reached the finish line first and were able to select their prizes from the table. Due to the enthusiasm, a second race was held, featuring even more ducks and spirited cheering. Top finishers received special prizes, but all participants were given the chance to choose a reward. Later in the day, Station 2 held a demonstration showcasing their rescue tools during a simulated car crash. Firefighters illustrated the skills and knowledge required to safely remove someone trapped in a vehicle after a collision, providing valuable insight into their emergency response capabilities. The fire department extends its appreciation to all community members who visited the stations and took part in the day’s activities. Individuals interested in serving their community are encouraged to apply for membership. The junior firefighter program is open to applicants starting at age 14, and opportunities for active or contributing members are available for those 18 and older.
